My story

Hi! My name is Khrystyna Kovtun. Photography has been my passion since my school years. However, I chose a profession dedicated to ensuring people’s safety and protecting their lives. After earning my master’s degree in law, I worked as a police officer in Ukraine for eight years.

In September 2022, due to the war, my four-legged best friend Harry and I moved to the Netherlands. As I was building a new life, I searched for a meaningful profession once again. My love for photography never left me—the desire to capture the beauty around us, from the emotions on people’s faces to the majesty of nature, remained strong.

My journey to becoming a photographer in the Netherlands was not instant. I worked at PostNL, cleaned private homes, and even a church. These jobs not only provided financial support but also introduced me to wonderful people. I discovered Dutch culture and daily life, and I fell in love with it. I am deeply inspired by the way people in the Netherlands treat children, care for nature, and value life. I have learned how important it is to live in harmony with the world around us and to find balance between work and personal life.

Life circumstances have taught me to cherish every moment. For me, photography is not just about taking pictures—it is a way to preserve emotions, people, beloved pets, and places that are dear to us. A photo has the power to hold memories, feelings, and the presence of those we love, as well as the places we cherish, even if they are lost in real life.

Besides photography, volunteering is an important part of my life. Every Saturday, I spend time with Ukrainian children in Amersfoort. We play games, draw, create crafts, and simply enjoy our time together. They share their world with me, and I share mine with them. From them, I learn lightness, sincerity, and the ability to find joy in simple things, which inspires me every day.

I would be happy to help you capture your special moments by creating photographs that tell your unique story. For now, I have completed Dutch classes at level A2 and plan to continue my language studies. We can communicate in English, beginner Dutch, or any language using Google Translate.

What matters most to me is understanding each other and sharing a common vision for capturing your special moments.
